As an independent software architect I help organisations design, build and modernise business-critical Java systems — software where downtime or data loss costs money immediately.

I'm David Vangeneugden, a senior Java developer and technical architect with more than 20 years of experience in aviation, traffic management, banking, logistics and large-scale eCommerce. I've worked independently since 2018, and for years before that as a permanent developer and architect on large-scale projects.

I work hands-on and pragmatically, taking ownership of what I deliver. I think along about the solution instead of working through tickets, and am equally at home in a greenfield rewrite, in modernizing an existing system, or in clearing out performance problems.
